Immigration: What Europe can learn from Australia - a lecture by former Australian PM Tony Abbott
Past Events
The Hon. Tony Abbott was Australia's Prime Minister 2013-2015. His government succeeded in stopping the criminal enterprise of organised illegal immigration. What was their key to success?

Tony Abbott's  government showed it was possible to stop the people-smugglers and organised illegal immigration. During the previous Labor government, 800 unauthorised boats had arrived carrying 50,000 asylum seekers, with an estimated 1,200 deaths at sea along the way.  The Abbott government succeeded in stopping this criminal enterprise of organised illegal immigration.

Mr Abbott's presentation will be moderated by Danube Institute Senior Fellow Mark Higgie, who was Australia's former ambassador to the EU and Hungary (as well as Mr Abbott's international advisor) and Gábor Csaba, Hungary's former ambassador to Australia.
We regret to inform you that Mr Abbott will not be available for interviews on the premises.
